Education Through Music-Los Angeles, welcomes Gustavo Dudamel and congratulates him on an electric debut at the Hollywood Bowl this past Saturday, Oct 3rd as the newest Conductor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
ETM-LA is a stakeholder in YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) which was founded two years ago and is inspired by the Venezuelan El Sistema model from which Dudamel received his musical training. The model continues to bring music to his country's poorest children as a means for hope, and Dudamel's passion for music education motivates the Los Angeles community to do the same.
In May 2009, ETM-LA Executive Director Victoria Lanier was invited to present ETM's Professional Development Model to more than 40 other stakeholders and partners of the YOLA program. ETM-LA will continue to work alongside and partner with other YOLA stakeholders to bring more equitable opportunities for music education for at-risk and underserved youth.
