Celebrated Los Angeles Musicians Make Music to Support ETM-LA
On October 28, 2007, Education Through Music - LA held a concert event to benefit its music education programs which currently serve approximately 1500 children. Celebrated Los Angeles musicians came together to perform, raising over $6,000 from this event. Violin students from the ETM-LA program opened up the concert, demonstrating their high achievement in just over one year. They were followed by renowned violist Paul Coletti, performing brilliantly in a program of Mozart and his own original compositions. He was joined by a superb ensemble: violinist Caroline Campbell, pianist Yana Reznik and cellist Elizabeth Wright. Ms. Reznik's piano virtuosity in works by Liszt and Copland thrilled the audience. The concert's second half offered the world-class artistry of cellist Ronald Leonard, performing exquisite readings of Schubert and Shchedrin. Sensitive accompaniment by pianist Hyun-Soo Lee provided the perfect support for Leonard's sublime interpretations.
All proceeds benefited ETM-LA's expanding music program, which serves underprivileged populations who may never have even dreamed of playing an instrument from a symphony orchestra. The beautiful and moving performance on Sunday was a reminder of the need for high quality music education for every child, regardless of talent or ability.
